The alpaca (Lama pacos) is a mammal from the camelid family, originally from South America. Its fibre is collected by shearing the animal, after it reaches the age of 8-12 months, once a year in the spring. Baby Alpaca fibre is light and soft, and Cariaggi® selects it according to fineness, length and cleanness, so that it can be easily combined with silk and cashmere fibres to create exclusive yarns.
